We are pleased to introduce a brand new approach to increasing health, wellness, and strength, all within the DeClaire LaMacchia Orthopaedic Institute. It is a new state-of-the art fitness and wellness center that is first of its kind in the Detroit metropolitan area.

Movestrong™ DeClaire Medicine for Movement was established in November 2011 by Adrienne M. Montgomery, Owner/Director of Health + Wellness, and Dr. Jeffery DeClaire, Owner. It is intended to fill a void by providing a safe environment for individuals to achieve their fitness goals where medical supervision and consultation are available when necessary. Movestrong™ promise exercise supervision to all members and individuals as well as personalized wellness programs, personal training services, and nutritional consultations for those who want individual attention while improving their quality of life. For most, it will be a safe new way to reach fitness goals.

Movestrong™ has the ability to offer medical expertise while at the same time adding a person touch to physical activity and nutrition. We invite you to tour our facility that contains the medical practice, physical therapists, and kinesiologists who can help guide your individualized exercise and wellness program, while improving the quality of your life. About Adrienne

Director of Health and Wellness, MovestrongTM, Adrienne specializes in exercise physiology, biomechanics, motor control, and human anatomy.  She is also skilled in the development of wellness programs, physical evaluations, and personalized exercise programs.  Adrienne has experience working with special populations including elderly, children, disabled, cardio-respiratory, diabetic, and obese conditions.

Adrienne received her undergraduate degree from the University of Michigan with a Bachelors of Science Kinesiology and a concentration in movement science.  During her time at the University of Michigan, she became a James B. Angell Scholar and graduated with distinction.

Adrienne is not only a skilled Kinesiologist but she also has an established career as a professional dancer.  Prior to attending the University of Michigan, she was awarded a scholarship for the Professional Program at Broadway Dance Center in New York City. There, under the direction of renowned instructor and choreographer Wes Veldink, she was able to continue her training with some of the most respected and well-known professionals in the nation and world.

Adrienne was a member of Rhapsody James’ hip-hop/street jazz company Rhapsody: The Company, Jared Grimes’ hip-hop/tap company TADAH, and Calen Kurka’s contemporary jazz company: Pushing Progress.  She has performed in many different shows including Atom & Eve, Broadway Underground, “BARE”, and the off-Broadway show, “Beyond Words”.  Adrienne can also be seen in the LIVE! At Broadway Dance Center’s instructional video, “Be the Music in Hip Hop”.

She has also had the privilege of teaching various activities in the Metro Detroit area for the past 9 years.  Adrienne has been sharing her knowledge of yoga, strength and conditioning, aerobics, and multiple dance disciplines with her surrounding community.

Adrienne is dedicated to contributing to the health and well being of her clients and empowering them to live physically active and healthy lifestyles. Her greatest joy is to share her experience in nutrition, healthy living and disciplined exercise programs to maximize a client’s quality of life.

Dr. DeClaire

Jeffrey H. DeClaire, M.D. is  a board certified and fellowship trained orthopaedic surgeon. Dr. DeClaire has practiced orthopaedic surgery in Rochester, Michigan for more than 20 years. He is the Co-Founder and President of the DeClaire LaMacchia Orthopaedic Institute.  Dr. DeClaire specializes in the treatment of disorders and injuries of the knee.

Dr. DeClaire is an active staff member at Crittenton Hospital Medical Center in Rochester Hills, where he was the Chief of the Department of Orthopaedics and Surgery.  He also served on numerous hospital committees. He is also an associate clinical professor at Oakland University in Rochester Hills.

Dr. DeClaire earned his undergraduate degree and medical degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. He completed a surgical residency program at Wayne State University in Detroit and an orthopaedic residency at University of Michigan Hospitals. He also completed his sports medicine fellowship program, which concentrated on knee injuries and disorders, at Penn State University’s Hershey Medical Center in Hershey, Pennsylvania.

For the past decade, Dr. DeClaire has focused on treating knee disorders and injuries, and performs nearly 1000 knee surgeries a year. His practice provides full service treatments for patients including arthroscopy, arthroscopic ligament  reconstruction, meniscus transplantation, cartilage regeneration, as well as partial knee replacement and total knee replacement.

Dr. DeClaire remains at the top of his field by working with a group of international orthopaedic surgeons  who devise new techniques and procedures for partial and total knee replacement  surgery. He is a leader in developing the minimally invasive surgery (MIS)  procedure for total knee replacement and has also developed a partial knee  replacement, the Patellofemoral surgical procedure. Dr. DeClaire’s philosophy is to find effective solutions that use the least invasive approach to preserve  or restore the normal knee anatomy.

Dr. DeClaire was awarded the Outstanding Physician of the Year Award by Governor John Engler in 1997. He is a member of the American Medical Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopy Association of North America and the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine. Additionally, he has been an orthopaedic team consultant to local high schools including Cranbrook schools,  Andover High School, Lahser High School, Rochester High School and Rochester Adams High School. In addition, he is the orthopaedic consultant for Oakland University.

Dr. DeClaire was selected as one of  Detroit “Top Doc’s” for the second time in October 2006 by Detroit Hour Magazine.
